Our local Youth Council was invited to visit the TDC Council Chambers in Richmond. They headed up yesterday afternoon and were given a tour by Kerryn Ferneyhough, who is one of the councillors appointed to the Tasman Youth Council.
Our team presented Kerryn with the results from the recent workshops which they ran with the Yrs 7-13 students at MAS, about the TDC Long Term Plan.
Kerryn was very impressed - she said the information was 'gold' as far as gathering the opinions of our young people about what they see as priorities for our town over the next ten years.
In fact she was so impressed that she is going to come to Murchison and attend one of our Youth Council meetings to get more background about the workshop results!
It was a very worthwhile trip, and was finished off with some pizza and fun at the bowling alley before heading home.
If you are interested in joining the Youth Council you must be between 12 and 24 years old. Contact our local Youth Council Facilitator Sarah Peacock msrcc.activities@gmail.com

Today is Daffodil Day.
This week the 50+ Group made a wall of daffodils, writing the names of those loved ones who have been lost to cancer, as well as messages of hope on the petals of the flowers.
This will be on display in our Rec Centre foyer as a reminder to donate to the NZ Cancer Society if you can.
Please feel free to add the names of your loved ones to the display, too.
You can donate here: www.daffodilday.org.nz/#donation-widget

Our Community programmes are supported by Tasman District Council, Buller Reap, Rata Foundation and Lottery Community.
We have a wonderful team of recreation providers that operate from our Centre as well as a group of fantastic volunteers who ensure we can offer a variety of activities for our community.
